The laboratory is an integral, necessary part of the course. Its grade enters the final grade as 20% (100 pts) of the total, except that you must pass the lab to pass the course. Everyone must take and pass the lab.

To pass the lab you must score at least 60% of the 100 points. You must also not be absent more than three times. These policies will be strictly adhered to!

All lab directions are on this website. They are hyperlinked to their titles in the schedule below.
READ & STUDY all lab directions before coming to lab. Your lab instructor may grade you on how well you prepare.
Bring a calculator and writing equipment to lab.
Field Labs:
- Many labs will be held at field sites. You will find the warning that a lab will be held in the field at the top of the directions for each field lab.
- Field labs will NOT meet at CBS 440, but rather, outside BSW by the southwest door. If you don't come to BSW for a field lab, you will get left behind. Because space in the vans is limited, you may not be able to reschedule a missed field lab. You will be graded absent.
- Bring water and sunscreen. Put on a hat. Wear clothes appropriate for tromping around in the desert. Pay special attention to your shoes — no filp-flops or high heels; and sandals leave your feet exposed to thorns.
More than 3 absences result in failing the lab. Failing the lab means automatically failing the entire course.
