EEB Setup for Networked Printers   (updated 12/22/04)

There are two networked printers available to all EEB users from recent Macs or PCs
    • A color Phaser 750 is located in the main office area - Room 310:
    • A b&w duplexing HP LaserJet 4250 in the mail room BSW305, available 24 hours. This machine with it's newer drivers should reduce printing problems with pdf or Mac files.

Note - your PC will need an EEB domain account to connect; ask Nick Kneen at 621-1446 or Email Nick at:  kneen@email.arizona.edu

  
  • Easy Setup from Windows 2000 and XP machines:
    Logon to EEB and locate these printers by using Windows Explorer (Windows-E keys) and browsing the Network (or Local Net) for the EEB domain. The Phaser is serviced by the Athlon700 machine and the LJ4250 by Mars. Note that the LJ4250 has separate icons for Windows or Postscript setup - The LJ4250-PS drivers will do better with .pdf and postscript files. Then Rt click the correct icon and select Connect to have the drivers downloaded to your machine.

      Windows Explorer -->  My Network Places --> Entire Network -->
           Microsoft Windows Network--> eeb--> Athlon 700 for Phaser (or Mars for LJ4250)-->
           "Printers and Faxes" then  Right-click the printer you want and select "Connect"

  •   Easy Setup from Macs OS X 10.3.7 version or later
    OS X printing support is a moving target - From version 10.3.7 or later:
  • Open the Printer Setup Utility (in the Dock or in Applications: Utilities folder)
  • Click Add Printer --> choose AppleTalk --> Local AppleTalk Zone
  • Scroll down and choose the Phaser750_BSW310 or LJ4250_BSW305
  • Choose the printer model and the correct driver (Phaser750 = Tectronix --> 750N or LJ4250 = HP-->4200 --> Add

  • Xerox Phaser 750 - Color and Black& White   (updated 04/22/04)
    This is an 8-16 ppm postscript laser printer with good color rendition at a true 1200 dpi. It has transparency and glossy paper capability. For setup instructions and color printing costs, see:

  • HP LaserJet 4250 - B&W, 35 ppm, Duplexer, Multiple pages/sheet
    This is a high speed B&W laser at a true 1,200 dpi with an additional 500 sheet paper bin and includes multiple page per sheet capabilities and duplexing See:

  • Xerox N17 - B&W, 17 ppm, Duplexer, Multiple pages per sheet
