I'm a PERT post-doctoral trainee with the Center for Insect Sciences at the University of Arizona, working with Dan Papaj. I recently finished my doctorate in Animal Behavior at the University of California at Davis with Ann Hedrick.
Multimodal signals often characterize communication within a species (male-female, parent-offspring) as well as between different species (predator-prey, plant-pollinator). I am interested in understanding the evolution of complex displays, as well as how receivers make decisions using signals that span sensory modalities or spatiotemporal scales. In Dr. Papaj's lab, I am studying the connection between multimodal floral signals and learning in the bumble bee, Bombus impatiens.
