International Visitors Fund
The Office of the Vice President for Research has made $5000 available this fiscal year to assist departments in bringing distinguished international scholars to Tucson. Disbursements from this fund may be applied only toward airfare between a U.S. location and Tucson.
This is not an overseas travel fund. Clear evidence of cost-sharing from at least one other UA funding source must be shown. Please note that the University requires the international visitor and/or the sponsoring department to provide evidence of an appropriate visa type in order to issue reimbursement for travel costs.
This program is active and ongoing. Please submit requests as far in advance of the anticipated visit as possible. Contact Char Powell at 626-8530 with any questions about the program. More information is also available at: http://international.arizona.edu/oed/ivf.shtml (posted August 21, 2005)
Awesome Grants Program promotes Student/Faculty Interaction!
Research supports the claim that the more contact students have with faculty outside of the classroom, the more likely they will persist in school and graduate. This award-winning program provides funds to faculty for various activities with students outside the classroom, allowing participants to interact in a social setting, and reducing students' feelings of intimidation around faculty members. In previous years, faculty members have hosted trips, get-togethers at homes, nights at the opera, and many other creative activities. (read more)
