Research Stipend Policy for 2008/2009
- Stipend year will change to May 1st through April 30th effective immediately
- We will no longer allow students to combine funds from previous year. All funds must be used during the stipend year or they will be returned to the general stipend account.
- Expenses must be incurred during the current stipend year.
- All receipts must be received within 60 days to be eligible for reimbursement. (We do understand that occasionally there may be extenuating circumstances and receipts will be later than 60 days (such as, you are out of the country). We will work with you in such cases. If you know that you will be unable to turn in your receipts within 60 days, please complete the Late Reimbursement Request form. These may be found in the EEB office.).
- All reimbursements must be listed in your stipend proposal. If for some reason, your research project changes or your travel plans change, you will need to fill out the Change in Proposal form. This form must be signed by your major advisor and the Graduate Coordinator. Please see the Graduate Coordinator for this form. (If you are purchasing different supplies for the same project listed in your proposal, you do not need to complete a form.)
- All proposals must be approved by the Graduate Policy Chair.
- Research stipends are commonly used for research supplies, field work, and travel to important meetings (if making a presentation). Certain expenses cannot be defrayed with this money (for example, membership in scientific societies). If in doubt, ask the Graduate Coordinator.
Students must be in compliance with EEB program requirements to be eligible for a stipend. If unsure of your status, please contact the Graduate Coordinator.
Teaching Assistant Training Online (TATO)
Any EEB Teaching Assistant who does not pass the TATO module with a score of at least 96% must meet with the Associate Department Head before they can serve as a TA in our department. The Associate Department Head will discuss the policies again with student and determine whether or not they have the knowledge of UA policies and regulations needed to TA for the department. The Associate Department Head will have final say over the student’s eligibility to teach in our department for the upcoming semester. This meeting must take place before a teaching contract is signed.
