UAConnect Email Migration - Here is a basic instruction sheet on migrating to the new UAConnect email system. NOTE: All new employees are placed in the new system, and do not have to migrate:
UAConnect Email Configuration document
Campus Wireless - To attach to the 'UAWifi', your computer's patch level must be up to date (Overview and Details of the UA plan). To attach, see the UITS Wireless Network page.
Software Licensing - The CATS Computer Store in the Student Union has a easy-to-follow web page on software licensing. And be sure to see the UA Sitelicense web site for free and low-cost software.
Also, Microsoft Windows and several applications, including the Office Suite, are available for download by UA Employees HERE.
Sophos Anti-Virus - Free antivirus software is provided by the University in the form of Sophos Antivirus. We strongly recommend that all machines have this essential utility installed. You can download the latest version from the UA Sitelicense web site. See the Sophos website for useful instructions on setting up your scanning options.
Please note that, by default, Sophos will report viruses it finds, but it does not delete them. See the Configuration section within the program to change this behavior.
Networked Printers - A
high-speed duplex network laser printer is available to department members. It is located in BSW 305 (the mailroom). See the front desk if you do not have to code to this room.
To attach to this printer, see the Network
Printer Setup page
Campus Poster Printing -There is a high quality poster printing service in the College of Medicine inside the UMC complex available to all UA departments. It is called COM ITS (College of Medicine Information Technology Services). The staff is experienced in all aspects of media and can offer assistance regarding posters. They offer 1 working day turnaround and currently charge $4.75 /sq. ft. or $6.30 /sq. ft. for vinyl. They use an Epson 44" archival quality printer with premium/heavy stock and offer layout services if needed. They can take most Mac or PC file formats. PowerPoint, pdf, Illustrator and Corel Draw are the most popular.
See their web pages explaining the service and a form to submit jobs/files remotely.
