Here are the steps needed to set up and print to the Phaser 750 over the net from all recent Macs in BSW or LSS. It is a native Postscript 3 printer and should do well with native Mac files as well as pdf docs, etc. It can print at 1200 dpi and color rendition is good ot excellent, particularly on glossy paper. See below for usage costs
On the Mac you want to print from:
1. Chooser -> Appleshare -> select Shiva ( the Mac in BSW316, with the correct PPD file)
2. Connect as guest -> select/open PRINTERS folder -> open Phaser 750 folder
3. Drag/Copy the TKP750P1.PPD file to your desktop (an Adobe print driver)
4. Back to Chooser -> LaserWriter8 -> select Phaser 750 -> click Create button
***note - if the Phaser 750 is a no show, call Joey (621-1588) to turn the printer off and back on to reup it on the appletalk protocol.
5. Click Desktop button in the ensuing popup dialog box (Postscript Printer Description File box)
6. Select the TKP750P1.PPD file -> click Select button.
All going well, this will load the printer driver and create a desktop printer icon for the Phaser. When you print to it, note the options available from the pull down bar in the print dialog box to avoid surprises such as monochrome printing or paper feeding from the wrong tray.
You must always select the Multifunction Tray for heavy/glossy/transparency paper. You (or Joey) will first need to load the special paper in the multi tray - the front panel of the printer will then prompt you to select the paper type and size before it will print. Use *only* actual Tektronix media for glossy paper or transparencies, which he has.
So that we can properly bill your account, please sign in on the worksheet by the printer, indicating name, a valid account number, number of copies, and paper type. Or check with Joey. Current color printing costs are:
$ .25 per page for regular color pages (special introductory price !)Questions or problems? Try Nick at 621-1446 or Email to: Nick Kneen
