Back to Desert Plant Adaptation Lesson Plan This scavenger hunt can be used while on a field trip, especially to a desert garden, in order to have students look more closely at the plants around them. Identify plants that fit each description. Explain why each of these features of the plant may be beneficial. Click here for a printable worksheet. Find 2 plants that have spines for protection (only one may be a succulent) Find a plant that has segments or joints Find a plant that has a very small leaves (relative to plant size) Find a plant with no leaves - how might it perform photosynthesis? Find a plant that might reproduce clonally, rather than sexually. Identify a plant's method of surviving desert conditions which is not listed here. Find a plant that is dormant (looks dead but probably isn't) |
