Monday Seminar: Nov. 20, Kyle Harms of Louisiana State University on "Processes Maintaining Diversity in Tropical Tree Communities"
http://www.biology.lsu.edu/faculty_listings/fac_pages/kharms.html 4pm in Biosciences West (map), Room 301 Host: Brian Enquist Talk Abstract Large-scale forest dynamics plots create opportunities to obtain unique insights into the ecology of species-rich tropical tree communities. Niche differentiation and density-dependent mortality appear to contribute towards maintaining species diversity. Even so, dispersal limitation and broad niche overlap suggest an important role for chance as one of the dominant processes. Dr. Harms will be available for appointments on Monday, November 20, 2006. For an appointment, please contact Brian Enquist at benquist@email.arizona.edu specifying the time(s) you are available. |
