Bachelor of Arts in EEB (Ecology and Evolutionary Biology)
There are several requirements that must be fulfilled before you can
obtain your degree from the University of Arizona. These requirements
include general education courses, foundation English and math courses,
pre-major courses, major courses and when applicable, minor courses.
A complete, up-to-date list of your degree program requirements can
be found on your Student Academic Progress Report (SAPR), which you
can obtain on Student Link, or on the University generated Academic
Program Requirement Report (APRR).
Below is a summary of University and College requirements for
graduation. Contact your academic advisor for more specific information:
120 Minimum number of units needed to graduate
42 Minimum number of upper-division units needed to graduate
30 Minimum number of units taken at the UofA towards your degree
18 Minimum number of the final 30 units taken towards your degree that
MUST come from the UofA (Units from correspondence courses are not included
in this number)
60 Maximum number of correspondence and “credit by exam”
credit that may be applied towards your degree
64 Maximum number of community college credits to be applied towards
your degree
2.0 Minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) needed to graduate
2.0 Minimum GPA in your major needed to graduate
2.0 Minimum GPA in your Minor (if applicable) needed to graduate

Breakdown of B.A. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Degree requirements:
1. General Education Requirements:
- Foundation English requirements are satisfied by the completion
of two semesters of freshman composition, appropriate English transfer
credit or portfolio approval by the English department.
- Foundation Math requirements are satisfied my math requirements
for the major (see “Pre-Major Requirements” section below)
- Second language proficiency must be demonstrated at the fourth semester
level (through 202) by course work, placement exam or credit by examination.
- Two, distinctly numbered Individual and Societies courses (INDV
courses)
- Two, distinctly numbered Traditions and Cultures courses (TRAD
courses)
- Three units of Tier
Two Arts coursework
- One, Tier
Two Humanities course
- One, Tier
Two Individuals and Societies course
- One course that focuses on gender, race, class, ethnicity or non-western
culture (G/R/C/E/NW).
**Natural Science (NATS) general education requirements are waived
for majors in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology.
2. Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Pre-Major Courses:
- Chemistry: Two semesters of inorganic chemistry (CHEM 103a/b) and
the associated labs (CHEM 104a/b)
- Physics: Two semesters algebra based physics (PHYS 102 and 103)
- Mathematics:
- Completion of Calculus I (MATH 113, 124 or 125)
- Completion of Biostatistics (MATH 263)
3. Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Major Courses:
- Requires a minimum of 32 units
- Core Coursework (16 units)
